KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Closing the digital divide is the goal of the eighth annual Youth Technology Fair. The fair included demonstrations, a robotics competition, and science related displays.
Organizers hope getting students involved in science will encourage them to learn more.
“We’re trying to encourage their “stem” disciplines,” said Lewis Walker, organizer.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math.
One team traveled from Council Bluffs, Ia.
“You learn how to build, program and interact with different teams,” said competitor Nathaniel Bunch.
Organizers say they’re glad to see such enthusiasm for science technology engineering and math and they hope it will continue.
